A Message from the Principal

Kia ora tatou

It is with great sadness that we pass the news to our community that Pa Shane Ruwhiu passed away on Tuesday afternoon this week (16th October). Pa Shane was the Kaumatua for St Peter’s College from 2015 and we were the only school who benefited from his gifts. As principal, I was lucky to be welcomed by him at a powhiri earlier in the year and had the pleasure of judging the house haka competition with him and his wife Laureen in term 2

In our community we often talk about servant leadership, service to others and giving of ourselves for the benefit of others. Pa Shane exemplified this through his generosity in serving our community without expecting any reward. He always made himself available when needed wanting to ensure that our St Peter’s College tikanga was upheld and that our community was culturally safe. I enjoyed his company and found him to be a very gentle, humble and generous man. We will miss having his wisdom and gentle guiding hand in the College but we must also be grateful for the opportunity to have known him as an important part of our community.

Our condolences and prayers go out to Pa Shane’s wife Laureen and his whanau. He has lived a rich life and will be sadly missed.

Haere ra e te Rangatira. Moe moe ra, moe moe ra.

Golf Tournament Fund Raiser

The inaugural “St Peter’s College Palmerston North Ambrose Fundraising Golf Tournament” is taking place on Friday 9 November 2018 at the Feilding Golf Club.

This annual event provides the ideal way to stay connected with the wider St Peter’s College community and enjoy a fun afternoon at the Feilding Golf Club.

All proceeds raised from the tournament will go towards purchasing classroom sets of Chromebooks to ensure all students have equal learning opportunities regardless of whether or not they have their own device.

Details can be found on our Alumni page here.
